Pooled Prevalence Calculator

Estimate true prevalence from pooled testing, assuming fixed or variable pool size and assuming either perfect tests or tests of imperfect and uncertain sensitivity and/or specificity. Also includes options for estimating the required pool size and number of pools to be tested to achieve a desired level of confidence and precision when designing prevalence surveys and for simulated sampling to evaluate precision and potential bias of alternative pooling strategies.

Detection of disease or demonstration of disease freedom

Estimate the level of confidence that a population is free of disease, or of detecting disease at the specified design prevalence, for a specified sample size and assuming a test of known sensitivity and 100% specificity. Alternatively, estimate sample sizes required to achieve the desired level of confidence of detecting disease for a range of prevalence values.

Diagnostic tests

Evaluate diagnostic tests or calculate true prevalence and predictive values and likelihood ratios for tests of known sensitivity and specificity.

Sample size calculations

Calculate required sample sizes for estimation or comparison of means and proportions.

Summarise data

Calculate confidence intervals for proportions and mean values, summarise continuous data and calculate summary measures and statistics for a 2x2 table.

Summarise probability distributions

Calculate critical values and summary percentiles for commonly used probability distributions.
