Anne Meyer has recently published a really interesting paper which examines the barriers to the adoption of a fish health data integration initiative in the Chilean salmonid production.
Ausvet was fortunate to work with many Chilean salmonid producers in 2018 and to integrate the production data of 10 companies for epidemiological analysis. Despite all our best efforts the companies weren’t committed to sustaining the data platform beyond the life of the project and we were keen to understand their reasons. This paper describes Anne’s qualitative study, identifies key factors required for successful implementation and describes some of the barriers to adoption and continuity.
Anne completed this work as part of her PhD at the University of Utrecht and the findings contribute to the discussion on the factors influencing the uptake of data integration platforms.
