H arish graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry and worked as a field veterinarian for Dairy Cooperative for a year before completing his Masters in Veterinary Sciences in Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology from Punjab Agricultural University in 1998. He worked on “Residues of Terramycin and Furazolidone in poultry meat” for his Master’s dissertation.

Thereafter, he served as an Army veterinarian in the Remount and Veterinary Corps of Indian Army until 2014. During his stint with the Armed forces in India he was involved in equine breeding, training of army dogs, providing veterinary care to military farm cattle and meat inspection duties. A qualified dog trainer, he has commanded canine units of Indian Army in active insurgency areas.

Harish sought premature retirement from the Indian Army as a Lt Col in 2014 to pursue a PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology from Murdoch University, Western Australia. His doctorate project is on studying Free-roaming dog enumeration and demography in rural and urban India to control rabies.

He joined Ausvet in August 2018.

Besides his passion to use Veterinary Epidemiology to provide solutions for rural populations, Harish has a keen interest in making short films for competitions on diverse subjects.
