New Zealand suffered an outbreak of M. bovis in recent years and has been eradicating the infection. The paper captures some work we did working with MPI on describing and forecasting transmission trends of M. bovis to enable strategic assessment and decision making of the progress of the epidemic.
The analysis demonstrated transmission was declining and the eradication programme was tracking well.
Importantly the work assimilates recent methods developed to assess the progress of eradication of other epidemics such as Ebola into the animal health field.
